The Isle of Whithorn is one of the most southerly villages and harbours in Scotland, about three miles from Whithorn and about thirteen miles south of Wigtown in Dumfries and Galloway. The village is the location of the Saint Ninian’s Chapel, linked with Whithorn Priory.
The main street was originally a causeway, with the harbour located on what was then the true island.
From the Isle of Whithorn there are many quiet walks including Burrow Head to St Ninian’s Cave.
The Village has a community shop and the award winning Steam Packet Hotel is just yards away with a further range of services available at the nearby Whithorn, including primary schooling.
Southwest Scotland is noted for its spectacular coastline, offering a plethora of opportunities for the outdoor activities including walking, fishing, shooting, sailing, and cycling. Wigtown Sailing Club is nearby including kayaking. There are many beaches and sandy coves within a short drive of the property, with the area also boasting several golf courses.
The A75 trunk road provides quick access from the south via the M6 & M74. Ferry links to Northern Ireland run from Cairnryan which is a short drive away, Glasgow Airport is 2 hours drive from the property.
